What if my Orbitkey x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker v2 is out of range?Updated 2 years ago

If your Orbitkey x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker v2 is out of range, the Chipolo app will display its last known location. Once you are back within range of that location, your Tracker v2 will reconnect, and you’ll be able to ring it to help locate your item.

If your item is no longer at that location, then this is where the "Community Search” feature comes into play. We’ve partnered with Chipolo to take advantage of their existing worldwide community that can help to locate your lost item. How does the Chipolo Search feature work? If any Chipolo Community member running the Chipolo app comes in a range of your Orbitkey x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker v2, their Chipolo app will send an anonymous update of your Tracker v2’s most recent location to you, helping you to locate that item even if you are not within range.

How close do I have to be for my Orbitkey x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker v2  to connect to my phone?

The Orbitkey x Chipolo Bluetooth Tracker v2 works via Bluetooth. Depending on the environment, Bluetooth is most effective in the 30 ft (10 m) range. The Tracker v2 range can extend up to 160 ft (50 m) in open space when there is a clear line of sight from the device to the Orbitkey Tracker.

Some other factors that can interfere with your Bluetooth signal:

  • Other Bluetooth devices;
  • Other WiFi devices;
  • Thicker walls.
